Even more than the pattern the collar gives a tailored shirt his very own individual character. Not without reason, the collar is traditionally considered the heart of a shirt. The choice of the collar type should be deliberately an not all suit every occasion and every personality.
hemdwerk offers a choice of five classic collars which give your shirt a custom finish. Whether you are choosing the expressive cutaway collar (Shark) or the formal Kent Collar (Turn Down) - one thing is the same for all: the high quality we are making your collar.
A hemdwerk collar always consists of two separate parts - the lower collar part and the collar top. These parts are cut cleanly and fixed firmly with sturdy inlets, which we are buying from one of the leading providers. This significantly increases the wearing comfort and reduces wrinkles while ironing.
Our collars can be personalized by the addition of contrast colors inside or outside or through the use of differing thread colors.
Collar stiffeners (bones)
In kent and cutaway collar, the collar stiffeners (bones) can be removed and - if desired - can be exchanged for extra stiff collar bones.
The kent collar
Typical for the kent collar or turn down collar are the straight, pointed collar ends. The kent collar is one of the most formal and also most inconspicuous collar types and is considered a classic combination with suits. Because of its universal character, the Kent collar is suitable for all business shirts and almost any tie knots. |
The cutaway collar
This elegant collar shape has many names. In English it is called cutaway collar, spread collar or shark collar. Characteristic of this collar are the wide spread collar sides, which opens the view to the tie knot, and the cut off looking collar ends. Especially among fashion-conscious and stylish shirt wearer the cutaway collar is experiencing an ever-increasing popularity. This type of shirt collar goes well with business clothes, but also standalone, without a blazer and tie, a fashionably modern eye-catcher. |
The button-down collar
This collar type is particularly well suited for casual combinations. Because of its soft nature and the sporty look of the collar tips buttoned to the shirt it looks less formal than most of the other collar types. With a necktie worn the wide button-down collar also fits perfectly to a business outfit. |
The tab collar
The tab collar with its typical narrow spread is considered an evergreen among suit weares. This collar variant is very elegant and is worn mostly to business combinations or at pretentious situations. Since the collar legs are linked to each other by a bar, a tie is indispensable. |
The wing collar
The wing collar is suitable for most formal occasions such as weddings or proms. A shirt with this collar type is combined to a dress coat, tuxedo or cutaway. To complete the festive outfit, a soft loop is bound around the collar with the typical short collar points. |
The neruh collar
The nehru collar (chinese collar or mandarin collar) is a small collar without a turndown part. This collar is getting increasingly popular among our customers. |
